मित्रांनो,

या वेळी लेखनस्पर्धेच्या निमित्ताने आम्ही घेऊन येत आहोत एक लाडका विषय. पु.ल. देशपांडे. १२ जून २००० हा दिवस मराठी माणसाच्याच नव्हे तर चक्क मराठीच्याही डोळ्यात पाणी ठेवून गेला. मराठीच्या चेहऱ्यावरचे स्मित ज्या दिवशी मावळले तो हा दिवस.

#लेखनस्पर्धा घेण्याच्या निमित्ताने आम्ही पुलंच्या लेखनाचा उत्सव साजरा करीत आहोत. 

यांच्या साहित्याला डोक्यावर घेऊन नाचताना मराठी माणसाला चक्क विठ्ठलाच्या पायाची विट झाल्याचा आनंद मिळावा इतका लळा यांनी आपल्या लेखणीने व लोभस व्यक्तिमत्वाने मराठी मनाला लावला. परदेशातील एखादी सुंदर ललना जशी ‘नथ’ लावल्यावर अधिक सुंदर दिसू लागते; आपलीशी,आपल्यातलीच जाणवू लागते; तसेच अनेक इंग्रजी साहित्यकृतींना यांनी मराठीची ‘नथ’ देऊन अधिक सुंदर केले. आपलेसे केले. यांचे साहित्य निखळ आनंद तर देतेच पण प्रबोधन देखील करणारे आहे.

लेखन, कथा कथन, उत्तम वक्ता, अभिनेता, संगीत, व्यक्तिचित्रे, नाटक, गायन, अनुवाद, तत्वज्ञान असे अनेक पैलू त्यांच्या व्यक्तीमत्वात होते. त्यात ते निष्णात होते. स्वातंत्र्यानंतर दूरदर्शन सुरु झाले तेव्हा त्यावर सर्वप्रथम पंडित नेहरूंची मुलाखत घेण्याची योग्यता असणारे आपले पुलं नंतर अनेक शिखर सर करत गेले. तेही धाप न लागता. हसतमुख.

पु.ल आपल्याला पहिल्यांदा भेटले असतील ते शाळेच्या मराठीच्या धड्यातून. पण त्यांना प्रत्यक्ष भेटता आले नाही हि खंत नेहमी राहील. आता या लेखन स्पर्धेच्या निमित्ताने आम्ही ‘पुलप्रेमींना’ एकत्रित करून पुलंच्या लेखानानंदाचा सोहळा साजरा करणार आहोत.

 

विषय व त्यांची माहिती.

१. पुलंना पत्र लिहा-

तुम्ही पुलंच्या लेखनाचा कलाकृतींचा आनंद नक्कीच घेतला असेल त्या बद्दल त्यांना धन्यवाद द्यायचे अनेकदा मनात आले असेल. पण ते हयात नाहीत यामुळे मनातील भाव तसेच सजवून ठेवून तुम्ही त्यांच्या लेखनपुष्पांतील आनंद लुटला असेल. त्या भावनांना मनातील कृतज्ञतेला शब्दरूप द्या. पुलंना पत्र लिहा.

२. पु.ल. देशपांडे - एक अष्टपैलू (लाडके) व्यक्तिमत्व-

पुलंना अनेक कला अवगत होत्या. त्यांचे लेखन, कथा कथन, संगीत, गायन या अशा अनेक कलांमध्ये त्यांनी अजरामर कृती तयार करून ठेवल्या आहेत. त्यांच्या या व्यक्तिमत्वाच्या प्रयेक पैलूचा आनंद साजरा करूया. इतरांना तुमच्या लेखाने अनेक अज्ञात गोष्टी कळतील.

३. मला समजलेले पु.ल.

पु.ल म्हणजे नुसते ‘बटाट्याची चाळ’ किंवा ‘व्यक्ती आणि वल्ली’ नव्हे. त्यांनी प्रवासवर्णने लिहिली, भाषांतरे केली, गाणी लिहिली, त्यांना चाली दिल्या(इंद्रायणी काठी... हि त्यांचीच अजरामर कृती), व्याख्याने दिली, त्यांच्या ‘एक शून्य मी’ या पुस्तकाने तर मला एका प्रबोधनकारक पुलंची ओळख झाली. त्यांचे प्रत्येक पुस्तक, आपल्याला नव्या पुलंची भेट घडवून देतात. तुम्हालाही पु.ल नव्या रुपात भेटतील. तो अनुभव आम्हाला लिहून पाठवा.

४. ‘व्यक्तिरेखा’ तयार करा-

पुलंनी मराठी माणसाला भेट दिलेल्या या सर्वात सुखद आणि आपल्या जगण्याचा भाग झालेल्या अनेक व्यक्तिरेखा अविस्मरणीय आहे. मग तो नाथा कामात, हरी तात्या, चितळे मास्तर, नामू परीट, पेस्तन काका अशा अनेक व्यक्तिरेखा पुलंनी आपल्याला भेट दिल्या आहेत. पण व्यक्तिरेखा निर्माण करणे सोपे नाही. आपल्या अनुभव विश्वात किंवा कल्पना विश्वात जन्मलेल्या, स्वभाव वैशिष्ट्यांनी अनोखे पण वाचणाऱ्या प्रत्येकाला त्यांच्याच आयुष्याचा भाग वाटणाऱ्या व्यक्तींचे चित्रण करणे आव्हानात्मक असते. तुम्ही हे आव्हान स्वीकारावे व प्रामाणिक प्रयत्न करावा यासाठी हा विषय निवडला आहे.

५. सुनिता देशपांडे आणि भाई-

अर्धांगिनी, सहचारिणी, आणि भाईंच्या (पु.लंच्या )यशस्वी जीवनाची इतकी मोठी भव्य वास्तू उभी राहिली ती मुळात त्यांच्या पत्नी सुनिता देशपांडे यांच्यामुळेच. पुलंच्या ‘मोठं व्हायचंच नाही’ या स्वभावामुळे त्यांना आई होण्यासाठी मुल जन्माला घालण्याची कधी गरज वाटलीच नसावी. कारण पुलं कधी मोठे झालेच नाहीत. त्यांच्या सवयी व त्यांच्या व्यक्तिमत्वातील नाजूक वळणांवर प्रकाश पाडला असता सुनिताताई शिवाय पुलंनी कसं जमवलं असतं? हा प्रश्न पडतो. सुनिता देशपांडे या पुलंच्या आयुष्याचा अविभाज्य भाग म्हणून त्यांच्या शिवाय लेखनस्पर्धा निरर्थक ठरली असती. नक्की वाचा- ‘आहे मनोहर तरी’. तुमची लेखणी नक्कीच प्रतिसाद देईल.

६. पुस्तक अभिप्राय-

पु.ल. देशपांडे यांच्या अनेक पुस्तकांचा अनुभव आपण घेतला असेल, अनेक पुस्तके आपल्या संग्रही असतील. क्षीण मनस्थितीत अनेकांना हि पुस्तके औषधासारखी आहेत. तुम्ही वाचलेल्या अशाच पुलंच्या पुस्तकांचा अनुभव तुम्ही मांडावा व अनेकांना त्या पुस्तकाला वाचायला प्रवृत्त करावे या साठी हा विषय निवडला गेला आहे.

७. नव्या पिढीला पुलं (कसे) कळतील?

शाळा, शेजार, मित्र मैत्रिणी, कुटुंब, समाज माध्यमे या सर्व मार्गांनी मराठीच्या बदलत्या (घसरत्या) रुपात वाढलेल्या पिढीला साहित्याचा, भाषेचा निखळ आनंद घेता येणे कठीण होत चालले आहे. विनोद समजायला त्यांना त्या भाषेचे ज्ञान असणे आवश्यक आहे. तर आपल्या या पिढीपर्यंत हा निखळ आनंद पोचवायचा कसा? काय काय करता येईल? तुमच्याकडून ऐकायचे आहे. लिहाल ना?

८. पुलंचे विनोद आणि सध्याचे विनोद- काय फरक आहे?

पुलंना कधीही कमरे खालचे विनोद किंवा एखाद्याच्या शारीरिक व्यंगावर खिल्ली उडवण्याच्या पद्धतीने किंवा ‘डबल मिनिंग’ यांच्या कुबड्या घ्याव्या लागल्या नाहीत. म्हणून त्यांची विनोदनिर्मिती हि निखळ आनंद देते समाजामध्ये थट्टा किंवा विद्रूप देहभोली यांवर आधारित विनोदाचेच  ‘व्यंग’ सहन करावे लागते. त्यातून क्षणिक हसू येते पण मन प्रफुल्लीत करता येईल असे काही नसते त्यात. तुम्हाला पटतंय ना? मग तुमच्या विचारांना शब्दात मांडा आणि आम्हाला पाठवा.

या लेखन स्पर्धेत आलेल्या लेखांतून निवडक लेखांचे ईपुस्तक प्रकाशित केले जाईल. १२ जून २०१६ या दिवशी. अनेकांनी भाग घ्यावा यासाठी आपण या स्पर्धेची माहिती अनेकांपर्यंत पोचवून आम्हाला प्रोत्साहन द्यावे हि नम्र विनंती.

#महाराष्ट्रदिन लेखन स्पर्धा - 'पण'

लेखन आणि महाराष्ट्र यांचे घनिष्ट नाते आहे. त्यास तोड नाही. साहित्यातील प्रत्येक प्रकारात मराठी लेखणीने स्वतःचे कर्तुत्व सिद्ध केले आहे. जगभरातील वाचक वर्गाने ते अनुभवले आहे. उपजत क्षमातेशिवाय कर्तबगारी होणे अशक्यच. मराठी भाषेची कर्तबगारी तिच्या मुलभूत साधेपणात तसेच विकसनशील स्वरुपात आहे. भाषेतून होणाऱ्या  अभिव्यक्तीसाठी लिहिणे व बोलणे हे दोन मार्ग सर्वज्ञात आहेत. पण जितक्या प्रमाणात भाषा बोलण्याने समृद्ध होते तितक्याच प्रमाणत किंवा क्वचित जास्तच ती लिखाणाने समृद्ध होते.

लिहिताना फक्त शब्दांच्या माध्यमाने संपूर्णतः व्यक्त व्हायचे असते, आपले मत पटवून द्यायचे असते, आपल्या शब्दांच्या माध्यमातून वास्तविक व काल्पनिक या दोन्ही जागांचा अनुभव वाचणाऱ्याला करून द्यायचा असतो. त्यामुळे ‘लिहिणे’ जास्त आव्हानात्मक असते.

जनसामान्यांच्या लेखन कलेला किंवा एकंदरीत शब्दांच्या माध्यमाने व्यक्त होण्याच्या उपजत भावनेला आम्ही ‘लेखन स्पर्धे’च्या निमित्ताने आवाहन केले. प्रयोजन होते १ मे ला साजरा होणारा ‘महाराष्ट्र दिना’चे. या दिवसाच्या निमित्ताने मराठी मनाचा मागोवा घेण्यासाठी महाराष्ट्राशी थेट संबंधित विषय घेतले. ‘हे विषय मनाला भिडतील’ असे अनेकांनी कौतुक करून उमेद दिली. समाजमाध्यमांचा वापर करून स्पर्धेची माहिती पोचवत गेलो, लेख मिळत गेले. ट्विटर व फेसबुक वर अनेकांनी प्रोत्साहन दिले. त्यांचे आम्ही आभार व्यक्त करतो. आणि त्यांच्यामुळेच या स्पर्धेची माहिती हजारो लोकांपर्यंत पोचली. म्हणून हे पुस्तक देखील आम्ही त्या प्रत्येकाला सप्रेम अर्पण केले आहे.

चांगल्या संकल्पनांना प्रतिसाद मिळतो हेच यातून सिद्ध झाले. अपेक्षेपेक्षा जास्त प्रतिसाद मिळाला. अनेकांनी मनातील भावना शब्दरूपात मांडल्या.

जर का आपल्याला वाचन संस्कृती वाढवायची असेल तर आपल्याला लेखन संस्कृतीला प्रोत्साहन दिलेच पाहिजे.

बदलत्या समजरचना, नात्यांचे बदलते संदर्भ, वैयक्तिक, भावनिक, सामाजिक गरजा, वैश्विक स्तरावर विस्तारलेला वाचक वर्ग तसेच उपलब्ध बाजारपेठ हे किंवा असे अनेक संदर्भ लक्षात घेऊन लिखाण कौशल्य वाढवायला निश्चित उपाययोजनांची गरज आहे.

ईबू च्या माध्यमाने आम्ही लेखनकलेला तसेच लेखकांना उत्तेजन देणारे उपक्रम करतच राहू. तरी आपल्याकडे काही संकल्पना असल्यास आम्हाला त्यात सहभागी होण्यास आनंद होईल.

या लेखनस्पर्धेच्या निमित्ताने अनेकांनी जे सहकार्य केले व समाजमाध्यमावर जे प्रोत्साहन दिले त्या प्रत्येकाचे पुन्हा एकदा मनापासून आभार.

10 points before you Self-Publish

I promote 'Self-Publication'. But many writers are blindly following the 'herd'.  And the number of books getting published are increasing at higher rate than rate of human population. 

This Explosive Increase (Not in India at least) in the Quantity is because' Writers' are too much excited to become 'Authors' and they compromise with MOST important aspects which I am mentioning below. 

Kindly read and prepare well before your Self-Publish.  

1. You know that you really have a fantastic content

Tip: A Fantastic Content has High emotional appeal for readers or ability to satisfy their Want in the words they want.

 2. Your manuscript has gone through MANDATORY steps

Editing, Proof reading, Corrections, Perfecting Grammar and sufficient sessions of improvements are of great importance. you can ignore them at the cost of your success. 

 3. You have at least 15 reviews from Serious Readers

IF you are a Serious about writing and want to Earn Name and Fame by your writing then there is no substitute to this point. 

Advice:
Do not give your manuscript ‘only’ to your loved ones if they are not Well-read. Their love for you may not give you a Critical Review about your writing and improvements to be done.

4. You are ready to invest ‘Time and Money’ 

For publishing and Distributing your E-Book lot of time (for Typing and perfect Formatting) and money (staring with your laptop's electricity consumption or Data charges) will be consumed for sure.

But your LOVE for writing and Your PASSION for publishing your DREAM book is worth of some of this uncompromising aspects.  

5. You have knowledge of Formatting 

This goes without saying. Formatting E-Book (printed book too) is the most important. As size and type of device  of is going to vary with different readers from Smartphones to  dedicated e-Readers (We eliminate the Laptop and desktop reading of E-Books- hardly anyone does that now a days).

Therefore to maintain uniformity of the content and best reading experience for your readers 'Perfect' Formatting is must.

6. You do not find Right Publisher

Right publisher in today’s world will be the person who has good knowledge of E-Book industry and can send your E-Book to Most of the distributors for online sell.

If your Publisher is not offering a Profitable deal in terms of Royalty or kind of services offered by him are something that you can Do it Yourself then opt for Self- Publication.

8. You have good negotiation ability (power)

For being self publisher means You will deal with Graphic Designers, Formatting Experts, distributors, marketing experts and so on so A good negotiation Ability will be the Boon for your pocket.

9. You have a good social network 

Do not rely on your number of Twitter Followers or Friends's number on Facebook. Real World network along with good social network will be your strength for becoming a Successful Self-Published Author

10. You have a Professional Graphic artist 

Many Self-Publisher feel that their content is enough to Impact the reader and cover page can be anything done on mobile app or by their computer expert kid. this consideration goes Beyond Wrong. A professionally designed Cover page is must.

बदलते वाचन आणि ईपुस्तकांचे युग

लोकांनी टाईप राईटर्स च्या ऐवजी संगणकाला का निवडले? घरातल्या ट्रिंग ट्रिंग वाजणाऱ्या दूरध्वनी ऐवजी भ्रमणध्वनी का सरस झाले? आणि आता भ्रमणध्वनीलाही मागे टाकत ‘कुशाग्रध्वनी’( स्मार्टफोन) वरचढ झाले. हे असे का झाले? कारण येणाऱ्या प्रत्येक संशोधनाने संभावना ‘निर्माण’ केल्या, उपलब्ध तंत्रज्ञानाच्या मर्यादांना इतिहासजमा केले. या नव्याने निर्माण झालेल्या संभावनांचा परीघ वाढवत जाण्यासाठी उपभोक्त्याला ‘सक्षम’ केले गेले. उपभोक्त्यांना त्यांच्यात असलेल्या सृजनशीलतेला तंत्रज्ञानाची साथ मिळाली.

अशाच अजून एका सीमोल्लंघनाचे आपण साक्षीदार होत आहोत. मानवीसंस्कृतीची ओळख असणाऱ्या सृजनतेचे जे तीन सर्वोच्च मानबिंदू आहेत, त्यांच्याशी संबंधित. एक भाषा, दुसरे संगीत, आणि तिसरे तंत्रज्ञान. जगात जितके संशोधन भाषेवर झाले आहे किंवा होते आहे त्यापेक्षा अधिक फक्त एकाच गोष्ट आहे ती म्हणजे ब्रह्मांडांची पोकळी. मानवी संस्कृतीत भाषेला मूळ संशोधन मानले गेले पाहिजे. कारण त्याशिवाय इतका विकास आणि इतकी बौद्धिक उत्क्रांती शक्य नव्हती. आणि या ‘भाषेवरील’ प्रयोग करणाऱ्या प्रयोगशाळा किती असतील? तब्बल सात  अब्ज मिनिटाला चार प्रयोगशाळा तयार होत आहेत.

आता इतक्या मोठ्या प्रमाणात वाढणाऱ्या प्रयोगशाळांना बौद्धिक, वैचारिक, सात्विक, मनोरंजक, आणि तात्विक अशा अनेक प्रकारची रसद पुरवठ्याचे सर्वात महत्वाचे साधन आहे ‘पुस्तक’.

पण हल्ली ‘अम्ही वाचन करतो’ म्हणजे पुस्तके, कथा कादंबरी, गोष्टी, किंवा वर्तमानपत्रे वाचणे असा राहिलेला नाही. लोकं खूप वाचत आहेत. आधीपेक्षा जास्त. लाखो ट्विटस, स्टेट्स अपडेट्स, फोरवर्डस, मेल, ब्लॉग्स आणि ‘असे तसे’ बरेच काही वाचले जाते. फक्त त्याचात ‘शिघ्रानुभूती’ (क्विकनेस ऑफ एक्सप्लोरेशन) प्रचंड वाढले आहेत. पण हे एका ठराविक वायोमार्यादेला डोळ्यांसमोर ठेवून केलेले मत आहे. आजही असंख्य वाचक पुस्तक प्रेमात न्हाऊन निघण्याच्या आनंदाचा अनुभव दर दिवशी घेत आहेत.

पण झाले असे आहे कि. बदलत्या राहणीमानाला आणि एकंदरीत जगण्याला आलेल्या व्यस्त जीवनशैलीला ‘पुस्तक वाचण्याच्या छंदाला अनेकांना बगल द्यावी लागते. शहरातील गर्दी, आणि एकंदरीत पुस्तकांच्या जागा व्यापण्याच्या गुणधर्मामुळे हवी तेवढी पुस्तके हवी तेव्हा, हवे तिथे घेऊन जाण्याला मर्यादा येतात. व पुन्हा वाचनाशी दुरावा येतो.

पण पुस्तकप्रेमी व वाचकांच्या भौतिक रुपी मर्यादांच्या ह्या अडचणींचा आता अंत होत आहे. अंत सुरु झाला आहे. कारण आता तुम्ही हवं तेव्हा कितीही वाचू शकता, तुमच्या आवडीची पुस्तके, आणि तीही हव्या त्या वेळी. गरज आहे ती फक्त एका ‘कुशाग्रध्वनी’ किंवा एका ‘ई-रीडर’ ची.

EPUB या स्वरुपातीला ई पुस्तके तुम्हाला वाचनाचे स्वातंत्र्य देते आहे. सध्या वापरात असणाऱ्या व दिवसेन दिवस कमी होत जाणाऱ्या PDF स्वरूपाच्या ई पुस्तकांच्या मर्यादांना इतिहास जमा करत EPUB स्वरूपातील ईपुस्तके संभावना वर्धक व उपभोक्त्याला अधिक सक्षम व त्यांना अधिक नियंत्रण 

अधिकार प्रदान करतात.

उदाहरणार्थ –

1.       EPUB ई पुस्तके कोणत्याही आकाराच्या स्क्रीनवर स्वतःला प्रदर्शित करते, म्हणजे PDF मध्ये असणारी झूम करून ओळ्या पकडत चण्याच्या त्रासातून मुक्तता.
2.        EPUB पुस्तके ‘रात्रप्रणाली’ (नाईट मोड) मध्ये देखील वाचता येतात.
3.        EPUB पुस्तके ‘अक्षररूपे’ (फाँट) बदलण्याचे स्वातंत्र्य देतात.
4.       EPUB पुस्तके ‘अक्षरमापे’ (फाँट साईज) बदलण्याचे स्वतंत्र देतात. झूम करून स्क्रीनवरची जी सरकवण्याची ओढतान असायची ती संपते. जवळचे अक्षर दिसण्यास अडचण असणाऱ्या लोकांना सर्वोत्तम. भिंग फेकून द्या.
5.       EPUB पुस्तके आभासी पानांचा अनुभव देतात.
6.      EPUB पुस्तकात एखाद्या आवडलेल्या मजकुराचे संकलन, किंवा शेअर करणे, इंटरनेट वर अर्थ शोधणे, असे बरेच काही करता येते.
7.      EPUB पुस्तके तुमच्यासाठी स्वतःला वाचू देखील शकतात. मस्त डोळे बंद करून कथा वाचू नका तर चक्क ऐका.
8.      हे तंत्रज्ञान अजून विकसित होत जाणार आहे.

ह्या दिवशी पुण्यात 'अखिल भारतीय मराठी साहित्य संमेलन' असणार आहे. त्याच वेळी जगभरात मराठी साहित्याचा जागर होत असेल दिवस-रात्र. आणि ह्या लेखांचा आणि कवितांचा आस्वाद शब्द रुपात आणि चित्र-ध्वनी रुपात संकलित करून ठेवण्याची जिम्मेदारी 'ईबू पब्लीकेशन्स'ने घेतली आहे.

आयोजकांना केलेल्या विनंतीस त्यांनी मान दिला यासाठी त्यांचे आभार.

Bye Flipkart Welcome Kobo

It was declared nearly 3 months ago about Flipkart’s exit from ebook market and today they declared that from 17th December it will STOP selling ebooks. 

Why Flipkart leaving eBooks?

Flipkart says Indian readers or not yet ready for adopting the new ebook format and sale of their Physical book was much greater than ebooks.

But I personally feel that the company accepted the drought conditions of Indian eBook market and landed on to the conclusion of closing business. 

Flipkart made me really know what times to create awareness and to educate people to adopt New format.

Will you lose your Purchase?

No. Flipkart is transferring librabry and purchases to 'kobo' a ebook dedicated company. 

Great relief and a good decision.

They closed their business but they were kind enough to consider users's investment and content they downloaded.

How this Exit will affect Indian eBook market? 

In India is a most famous online shopping portal and hence it had all resources to develop their eBook business. Indian eBook market is growing and their are many players. Though Flipkart's exit will ripple the market but the market will surely develop and better substitute. They tried to develop environment suitable for the eBook market. So not to worry.

Is Flipkart going to handover their ebook market share to kobo?

I think it is very obvious. Kobo is bigger player and they must have calculated all gains and future aims to enter into Indian market with a huge data base that Flipkart must have collected. 

The deal between two is not known. But  wish Kobo will take over the business. 

Welcome Kobo.

Kobo has their own eReader device, dedicated to eBooks and competing with Kindle. 

I am sure kobo will help growth of eBook industry in India. 

I do agree that today the eBook market in India is nearly 1% but it's going to increase.

Kobo have got a very nice deal. Now the eBook industry in India will surely grow because Kobo have their own ebook readers they will surely work for selling their hardware.

What Next?

Let's see how Kobo plays their strategies. They have Amazon against them.

Konkan Marathi Sahitya Sammelan

I visited Konkan Marathi Shitya Smmelan Date: 21^st Nov 2015. Venue: Raja Shivaji Vidyalay. Dadar, Mumbai.

The heart of Mumbai city ‘Dadar’ a place populated with intellectuals live with peace visited yet another aurora of literature. Konkan Sahtya Smmelan (Konkan- Region of Maharashtra state, India, Sahitya Smmelan- Literature Summit).

My sole concern was ‘Visiting Book Stalls’. Nearly 20 publishers from various corners from Maharashtra participated. Here are some positive and negative points I observed.

Positive:

1. Lot of publishers participated
2. They had really great Content,
3. Nearly each one had their Information booklet and  list
4. Books were displayed in easy to access manner
5. Stalls were equipped with billing booklets
6. They knew how to Greet (Only as a reaction)
7. The infrastructure was fine.

Negative: (These points should not be taken at personal level, I have summarized my observations)

1. PASSION there was infinite scarcity to sell their product.
2. Representatives were sticking to their chairs
3. No one was eager enough to Educate their Buyer to buy their products
4. Except one or two none of the publisher had a Right Marketing Offers, Specially for the event.
5. It was more like ‘Book Exhibition’ and not ‘Book Stall’
6. With one or Two exceptions None of the Stall had Professionals Trained for SELLING.
7. No one asked me to give my contact number for future sells or for generating database.
8. Very few had online presence and social media for connecting with potential customers

Literature itself is a fascinating thing and most of the ‘People’ become ‘Buyers’ when a particular book hits the right chord of their ‘heart’ and ‘Pocket’. But it takes lot more to convert a ‘Visitor’ into a ‘Buyer’. I guess importance of this aspect will be soon learned buy them.

Overall what I understood from this is they all were Publishers but not ‘Publishers and Sellers’. Print publications need to learn the competition has already gone beyond imagination and to stay in this business (or rather survive with growth for next 50 years at least) they must acquire other skills which can increase possibilities.

I ask each and every Print Book seller about their inclination towards eBooks. Most of them replied ‘Not thinking in that direction’ Few said ‘No’ politely and to remaining Publishers I was scared to ask as they disappointed me.

But I wish these Publishers who not yet trying to explore the world of eBooks will soon opt for it.

They need inspiration and information too.

To conclude these publishers had lot of jewels Which I wanted to Buy but I could not. I love books and  love these publishers because they took efforts, invested huge amount of hard work, concern, time and money to deliver best books they could.

I see all these publishers as ‘True Friends of Humanity’ their work is a Gift of Humanity to Humans irrespective of their Brand value and they catalog of star authors and bestsellers, I am fortunate that I met you. A mere ‘Thank you’ will not be wise but still I am expressing my Gratitude towards you.
